Document Actions

A skilled workforce is critical to the success of every business. Marketable skills also help job seekers improve their employment opportunities. That is why WorkSource funds skills training for hundreds of area job seekers and workers each year.

To provide the business community with the skilled workers they need, WorkSource provides a variety of training opportunities*:

Occupational skills training for unemployed workers

WorkSource funds training for low-income, laid off workers and other target populations in “targeted occupations” with good earning potential and in growing industries in Travis County. For a complete list of the occupations for which training is available, please click here.

On-the-job skills training for new hires

To help employers get the skilled workers they need, WorkSource can fund on-the-job training for eligible individuals. The new hires will be trained on job skills determined by the employer while working full-time. Pending eligibility, WorkSource can also reimburse the employers for up to 50 percent of the new hire’s salary for up to six months. Interested employers must commit to hiring and retaining the individuals who successfully complete their training programs.
